Group Exercise Instructor Prep Course - $0.00

This non-credit course is designed to provide applicable knowledge and practical skills in preparation for a national certification in group exercise instruction. Topics include guidelines for instructing safe, effective and purposeful exercise, essentials of the instructor-participant relationship, the principles of motivation to encourage adherence in the group exercise setting, effective instructor-to-participant communication techniques, methods for enhancing group leadership and the group fitness instructor’s professional role. By the end of this course, you should have the knowledge and practical experience necessary to lead a group exercise class.

Please register for the section of the course you most wish to teach. General group exercise includes all dance, cycle, strength and condition formats. Mind/Body includes all yoga, pilates and barre formats.

Our Fall 2018 class will meet on Wednesdays from 4:30-6:00 pm in Meeting Room 124 and Fridays from 12:30-2:30 pm in Group Exercise Studio 1. Registration for the Fall course will open at 6:30am, August 27th. Our first class meeting will be Wednesday, September 5th.
